30 YR. OLD MALE CHARGED WITH DISCHARGING A FIREARM AND ASSAULT

A 30 year old male of Bad Cox Anguilla, was arrested and charged for discharging a Firearm and Assault.

He appeared before the Magistrate’s Court on Monday 27th September 2020 to answer the charges and was granted bail in the sum of a Fifty-Thousand-dollars bond, and ten thousand dollars in cash, with one surety. Mr. Gumbs is due to reappear in court on Thursday 16th December 2021.

His bail condition are:
• Surrender all travel documents forthwith and not leave Anguilla by any means without the court’s permission.

• Report to The Valley Police Station every Monday and Friday between the hours of 6:00 am and 6:00 pm commencing Friday 1st October 2021.

• Be on curfew with immediate effect from 8:00 pm to 6:00 am daily and must be with the confines of his home in Bad Cox and to answer to the Police at any time during routine curfew checks.

• Have no contact, whether directly or, by himself or by means of an agent, with the virtual complainant in the matter.

• Not knowingly go within 100ft of the virtual complainant.

The Royal Anguilla Police Force would like to remind the general public that
a) The defendant is entitled to a fair trial;
b) There is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty;
c) Nothing would be stated or published which would prejudice a fair trial taking place; and

d) Section 115(g) of the Criminal Code applies and provides for an offence in respect of any person who, while a judicial proceeding is pending, makes use of any speech or writing misrepresenting such proceeding or capable of prejudicing any person in favor of or against any parties to such proceeding, or calculated to lower the authority of any person before whom the proceeding is to be held.
