UWI ALUMNI ASSOCIATION – ANGUILLA CHAPTER ELECTS NEW EXECUTIVE AT ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The UWI Alumni Association – Anguilla Chapter (UWIAA) – held its Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, 31st August 2021, via the Zoom platform. The Meeting was chaired by outgoing President, Ms. Yvette Wallace, who presented the Report of the Executive for 2018-2021.

Also participating in the meeting was Mrs. Sandra Griffith-Carrington, Campus Officer of Alumni Relations for The UWI Open Campus. In her remarks, Mrs. Griffith-Carrington lauded the work of President Wallace – and the other outgoing Executive Members of the Anguilla Chapter. She noted that despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, The UWI Alumni Association – Anguilla Chapter – had to be commended for remaining active with their ongoing programmes and activities, including the Pelican Awards and Pelican Perks programme. She also highlighted the efforts of Past President, Mr. Stanley Reid; and Manager for The UWI Open Campus British Overseas Territories, Dr. Phyllis Fleming Banks and her staff.

During this meeting, the membership elected ten (10) new Executive Members to lead the work of the Association over the next two years:

Vice President – Dr. Maglan Lewis
Membership & Data –
Ms. Renè Henry
Secretary – Mrs. Itasha Webster
Assistant Secretary –
Ms. Tomasha Connor
Treasurer – Mr. Vonlee Harris
Assistant Treasurer –
Ms. Telica Mussington
Public Relations Officer –
Mr. Jameel Rochester
Medical Liaison –
Dr. Kareema Matthews
Law Liaison – Mr. Stanley Reid

Further, Nurse Dana Ruan, Mrs. Shenique Clare-Mussington and Mr. Kenn Banks, have volunteered their services to support the new Executive as committee members. The new Executive is encouraging other Alumni residing on Anguilla to give back to their alma mater, and community, through volunteerism and mentorship.
Following the elections, the new President, Ms. Kemoloy Murphy, thanked the membership for their confidence in choosing her and her team – and expressed her gratitude to the Immediate Past President, Ms. Yvette Wallace, and the other outgoing Executive Members. President Murphy also pledged to work closely with her team, Alumni Members and The UWI Open Campus Anguilla administration to advance the work of The UWI Alumni Association – Anguilla Chapter.
