The community help organisation, Creative Minds, has reached out to the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School’s Special Education Needs Unit and made a tangible contribution of supplies for the benefit of both the faculty and students.
Among the items donated are art supplies, sanitary supplies, stationery items, games, a projector and cookware. Most of these were sourced from a wish list made by the Unit to the donating organisation, and presented before the beginning of school on September 6th.
According to Creative Minds representative, Mr. Jovaughn Delaney, “It is an organisation that gives back to Anguilla and its people. We endeavour to provide assistance to our visitors and guests as well. In general, we have the young people of our communities at heart and we do whatever we can to help shape their future,” Delaney stated.
Accepting the gifts on behalf of the Unit were Teacher Karisa Lake and Teacher Brenda Griffin. Teacher Karisa took responsibility, in the absence of the Lead SEN Teacher, Ms. Susan Gumbs, to thank Creative Minds. She commented: “These donated items will help in the teaching of life skills, art, gross motor skills, and many more, all for the benefit of our students at the SEN Centre. On behalf of the Department of Education, and the Principal and teachers of the School, I wish to extend a hearty ‘Thank You’ to Creative Minds.”
