When the 2021/2022 tourism season starts in November, visitors, as well as residents, will see a new and pleasing dining and entertainment feature. That will be the commissioning of Aqua Lounge, a floating restaurant, anchored at Rendezvous Bay, Anguilla, on the island’s southwest coast.
The visionaries and proprietors behind the facility are Mr. Davon Carty and Mr. Ivan Berry, widely known on the island as entertainment promoters. Among other social and cultural projects and events, they are closely associated with is Lit Lounge, at Road Bay, Sandy Ground, whose owner is Anguillian singer, Deana Mussington.
“We are in the final stages of construction and the rest of it is the installation of equipment and aesthetics,” Mr Carty told The Anguillian newspaper. “We will also be looking at getting up and running for the upcoming tourism season – and we are hoping that COVID does not impact us any further, and that there will be no impacts from hurricanes.
“We are excited and looking forward to offering the public something new and interesting in Anguilla. If you have ever been at Lit lounge, you will have an idea of what it is all about. Let us look at it this way: Lit Lounge on the water just from a different perspective.”
How does Mr. Carty sees Aqua Lounge tying in with the tourism industry? “Obviously, it is a new industry to what Anguilla has to offer,” he replied. “It is adventurous but it still ties in with the traditional Anguillian fair. What I mean is a high level of service, excellent food and cocktails and a general excellent experience. So it is definitely geared to be a part of the Anguillian experience quality wise – just with a different spin of what Anguilla is really about.”
Carty continued: “We are going to be anchored in Rendezvous Bay. We will have boats to take you out – or if you are a good swimmer, you can swim out to Aqua Lounge. It is all your choice. It will be more than just eating and drinking. There will be some fantastic entertainment with a great vibe – and some water sports including water slides.”
Ivan Berry, Davon Carty’s business and entertainment colleague, said: “We are really excited to have Aqua Lounge in Anguilla. It will be certainly the first of its kind in the Western Hemisphere – and certainly the first in Anguilla. I think as tourism grows in Anguilla, and the sector is looking for diversity in what tourists can do and accomplish when they are here, that this will be one the delights for them. Now that direct flights will be coming from the United States and other places, having a floating lounge/restaurant and bar in the middle of the ocean in Rendezvous Bay, Anguilla, will be a fantastic idea for tourists to spend the day. I think you will also see a lot more traffic in terms of other tourists coming over on charter boats from St. Martin/St. Maarten to spend the day at Aqua Lounge.
“It is also going to be environmentally friendly because we are going to put a marine park around Aqua Lounge to enhance the sea-life habitat at Rendezvous Bay. It is going to be amazing. I think that Anguilla is certainly going to get a lot of international media from having such a facility as the ones that exist in Fiji and Dubai, etc. They get an extensive amount of international media attention for something unique, environmentally friendly and will help the sea-life habitat.”
Mr. Berry added: “All in all, it will be a place to have fun and will be environmentally friendly for tourists to come and enjoy.”
