The runway of the Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport in Anguilla has now been fully completed with the required markings and other signage.
The resurfacing work was financed by the UK Government to the tune of four million Eastern Caribbean dollars. The refined work, undertaken late last year, has significantly improved the quality of the runway, thus maintaining a high standard of approval by the aviation authorities.
According to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Communications, the paving of the airstrip has resulted in the improvement of the Pavement Classification Number (PCN) from 22 to 37.
The improvement means that aircraft with a high classification can safely operate on the runway. The remaining work, which has now also been completed, included the grooving of the runway to provide a better grip by aircraft and the markings.
