JNH CRICKET ACADEMY LAUNCH IN ANGUILLA

On Monday 9th August 2021, JNH Cricket Academy launched its club, namely, Youth Cricket Anguilla (YCA) with a two-week development camp at the James Ronald Webster Park. This venture is in collaboration with the Anguilla Cricket Association and the Department of Sports. At the start of the event a total of 33 participants (ages 7-19) were registered. It was heartening to note that among those participants, 6 were females.

The official launch was attended and addressed by the Honourable Premier Dr. Ellis L. Webster, Ministerial Assistant in the Ministry of Social Development, Honourable Merrick Richardson and Director of Sports, Mr. Andre Collins. . Mr. Ralph Hodge gave brief remarks on behalf of the Anguilla Cricket Association. The launch of Youth Cricket Anguilla and two-week camp were viewed as a timely venture.

Mr. Neville Hamilton presented an overview of the realization of Youth Cricket Anguilla, while Mr. William Bourne (Head Coach) gave brief remarks regarding the focus of the two-week camp. The Honourable Minister of Social Development and sports Ms. Dee Ann Kentish-Rogers gave brief remarks and declared the camp open.

Youth Cricket Anguilla (YCA) aims to:
– provide an introductory program for youth to the game of cricket
– provide support for youths who have interest in the game
– promote the game of cricket by organizing different types of competitions
– liaise with the various stakeholders who are willing to invest in the various programs
