Anglicans from the three churches that constitute the Parish of the Pro-Cathedral of St. Mary, with St. Augustine and St. Andrew, gathered on Sunday afternoon, August 1st, 2021 to bid farewell to Assistant Priest, Rev. Father Raliville Christian.
The special service was held at the St. Augustine’s Anglican Church and was also attended by others who would have become familiar with Father Christian during his tenure on island.
Father Christian was inducted as Assistant Priest in Anguilla on Sunday, February 10th, 2019, by the Rt. Rev. L. Errol Brooks. His tenure ended on Sunday, August 1st, 2021. He left the island on holiday on Thursday, August 5th and is due to take up an appointment as Parish Priest of St. Paul and St. Barnabas in Antigua on September 1, 2021.
The transfer of Father Christian to Antigua is one of several throughout the Diocese of the North Eastern Caribbean and Aruba that become effective on September 1, 2021. These transfers are taking place in the islands of Antigua, St. Kitts, Nevis and Anguilla.
Meanwhile, The Rt. Rev. L. Errol Brooks will be retiring on October 31, 2021, and the Rev. Canon Reid Simon will take up an appointment in the Parish of the Pro-Cathedral of St. Mary, St. Augustine and St. Andrew as of September 1, 2021.
Canon Simon is no stranger to Anguilla having visited on several occasions and conducted worship in the three congregations. He will be accompanied by his wife, Turkessa, and their son, Matthew.
