Anguilla’s gifted youngsters will again be displaying their musical talent at the upcoming Inter-Primary School Calypso Competition slated for Saturday 14th August 2021. The sixth Annual Inter-Primary School Calypso Competition is a collaborative effort by The Department of Youth and Culture, The Platinum Band and the members of the Calypso Fraternity.
The programme is designed to expose primary school students to the Calypso art form, and offer them avenues of positive artistic expression, while providing wholesome entertainment for the wider Anguillian public. It is hoped that the children and young people who are exposed to this competition, will develop and maintain an interest in Calypso so that this critical aspect of our heritage is not lost.
We are excited that 6 particants have stepped up to represent their schools, and commend them for their dedication to the competition because we know that learning new material and performing is not an easy task. We hope that this venture will add to the cultural and creative development of some of our youth.
The Department of Youth & Culture and The Platinum Band wish to thank the schools and their young calypsonians for accepting the challenge to participate in the upcoming Inter-Primary School Competition. We encourage everyone to come out and support our children on 14th August 2021 at the Landsome Bowl Cultural Centre – for what promises to be another spectacular Calypso Competition.
