The Ministry of Health would like to thank all the residents of Anguilla who have taken the opportunity to inoculate themselves with the Covid-19 vaccine since February 5, 2021. As of midday July 14, 2021 there were 9755 registered persons to take the vaccine of which 9362 persons had received their first dose 8446 persons received their second dose. In a population estimate of 15,500 total persons, this would represent 60% of the population having received the first dose and 54% of the population having received two doses.
In an effort to use as many of the remaining doses of the vaccine stock currently on island as possible, before their expiration date of July 31, 2021, the Ministry of Health has extended the hours of operation of the vaccination site at the James Ronald Webster Park by an extra hour daily. The new hours of operation are now from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday to Friday until July 30, 2021.
The Ministry of Health has received confirmation from the United Kingdom Government that all persons who receive first doses up to end of July will be guaranteed access to the second dose when needed. In this regard, the U.K Government has agreed to send enough doses of the vaccine to Anguilla to cover all persons who have received their first dose by the end of July.
Vaccinations remain a critical component to permit the full and safe re-opening of Anguilla to passenger travel. The Ministry of Health is once again appealing to persons to get vaccinated before the full re-opening of Anguilla.
While we get our vaccine coverage up to the critical mass, the Ministry of Health reminds the public to continue practicing hygienic measures to protect against COVID-19. These include:
