The Valley, Anguilla – On the evening of Thursday, 1st July, 2021, the Department of Education celebrated the invaluable years of service of its 2020-2021 retirees at the La Vue Boutique Hotel, Backstreet, South Hill.
The short ceremony, which was hosted by Tr. Ameeya Woodley, recognised the significant contributions of the retirees to the development of Anguilla’s children which, in most instances, had spanned decades. The honoured retirees were as follows: Mr. John Martin, Mrs. Violet Martin, Mr. Maurice “Michael” Skellekie, Mr. Donald “Neighbour” Wilson, Mr. Irad “Shanky” Connor, Mr. Michael “Dumpa” Martin, Ms. Venetta “Netta” Rey, Mrs. Joan Flemming, Mrs. Veronica Lashley, Ms. Gabrielle Klaren and Ms. Paula Etienne.
The Minister of Education, the Hon. Ms. Dee-Ann Kentish-Rogers; the Permanent Secretary of Education, Dr. Bonnie Richardson-Lake; Chief Education Officer, Mr. Bren Romney; Education Officers and School Principals, offered congratulatory remarks and concise outlines of the vital contributions of the retirees as they reflected upon their respective journeys through education. Family members, and esteemed colleagues of the retirees, also gathered to celebrate with them. A poolside cocktail followed the ceremony.
The Department of Education wishes the retirees a wonderful retirement, and expresses gratitude to them for their vital contributions to the Education Sector in Anguilla.
