Shelly and Sherise – My Anguilla Experience

On May 1st 2021, My Anguilla Experience launched the Virtual Discover Anguilla Challenge. My Anguilla Experience is a blog and social media platform owned by Shellecia Brooks-Johnson with the support of team members Sherise Brooks and Nashaine Johnson.

Shellecia shared, “Prior to the lockdown, we intended to launch a Discover Anguilla Challenge with 20 challenges which would have required participants to explore Anguilla and rediscover all that Anguilla has to offer from our beaches and restaurants to our culture and heritage. Participants would have gotten the opportunity to mingle and engage in various activities and events during the month of May. Anguilla’s pause, because of the Covid-19 cluster, meant the full challenge had to be postponed. I decided it was best to pivot and host a virtual mini Discover Anguilla Challenge instead, and so we did.”

The goals of the Challenge were to:
1)Spark positivity during a tough time
2) Support local businesses and performers
3) Share with the world how awesome Anguilla and Anguillians are

The Virtual Discover Anguilla Challenge ran from May 2nd to May 7th and was embraced enthusiastically. The challenges were:

1) Post a picture of a beach in Anguilla. Name the beach.
2. Post a picture of a locally made product that you currently own. Tag the business.
3) Write a review for two local businesses on their Facebook page.
4) Share a favourite childhood memory in Anguilla. Include a picture if you have one.
5) Post a video from a local band or performer. Tag them.

Participants who completed all the challenges were entered into raffle for a chance to win the grand prize.
