I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our former Chief Minister and Elected Representative of District 6, the Honourable Mr. Hubert Benjamin Hughes.
Mr. Hughes was first elected as a representative in 1976 and faithfully represented the people of his constituency and Anguilla during the many years of his long political career. His forthright, astute and engaging manner earned the respect of many persons near and far. Although he officially retired from politics in 2015, his contribution to Anguilla has left an indelible impression on the lives of all Anguillians and many persons all over the world.
On behalf of myself and the members of the Anguilla United Front, I wish to extend profound sympathies to Mrs. Norma Hughes and all of the family, friends and loved ones on the loss of the late Mr. Hubert Benjamin Hughes.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
