Rechelle was fortunate to secure an athletic Scholarship from the University of Idaho where she continued to excel securing Big Sky Athletic Conference Freshman Athlete of the Year 2017 Indoors and Outdoors. She also set the University of Idaho indoor Long jump record in the process. In 2019 she won the Big Sky indoor long Jump Championships. Her outdoor season was curtailed in 2020 due to Covid-19.
Rechelle is quoted as follows: “From a very young age I began my career as a track and field athlete and it has been a very rewarding experience. I have travelled all over the world and have built up quite the mental fortitude through the ups and down of competing. One of the biggest rewards has been receiving a Track and field scholarship that paid for 4 years of schooling, 3 years for my bachelor’s and 1 year for my masters. The University of Idaho afforded me the opportunity to do a 3+2 programme where I started my master’s in my junior year earning dual credits to finish my bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and Health Summer’20. This spring I have completed my Master of Science degree in Athletic Training. This degree allows me to be a part of the sports medicine team at Adams State University in Colorado. Athletic training encompasses the prevention, examination, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of emergent, acute or chronic injuries and medical conditions. With this I am able to stay connected to sports but can also work with non-active populations. I am truly grateful for all the love and support my family and friends have given me throughout the years. They really made the journey easier. I would also like to thank the Elite Athletic Track Club coaches, Heather Richardson and Derick Griffith and the other coaches, over the years, who equipped me with the tools to receive my scholarship and the Anguilla Amateur Athletic Association for all the opportunities to showcase my skills”.
Congratulations once again and all the best in your Athletic Training career!!
