Fifth Form students of the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School in Anguilla have come up with some very innovative and impressive ideas for their SBAs and their Seventh Annual Visual Arts Exhibition.
The exhibition was held on Thursday, April 15, at the Rodney MacArthur Rey Auditorium where it was viewed by a large number of students, teachers and other persons.
Head of the school’s Visual Arts Department, Navine Mairyshaw, told The Anguillian newspaper: “We are having our Seventh Visual Arts Exhibition in which the students in Fifth Form completed their CXC SBAs for marking and their exhibits are now on display. We have a variety of paintings, textiles, sculptures, graphic designs and each student has his or her own theme to showcase their work. The teacher associated with the students is Alaina Carty.”
Among those present at the exhibition was the Tourism Education Coordinator, Mrs….Niles. She told the newspaper: “We are continuing to pursue the Tourism Education Programme even in these COVID times. We recognise that while is virtually closed down right now, it will continue for the foreseeable future to be the major employer of persons in Anguilla; and we need to ensure that our students are prepared when our markets reopen that our people are ready to take their place in the industry.”
Mrs. Niles added: “We had a number of other entries from those winners we selected the overall winners.”
