There was a sizeable turnout for the celebration of the late James W. Hodge event held at the Rodney MacArthur Rey Auditorium, on Saturday, April 3, 2021.

The late
Mr. James W. Hodge

The late Mr. Hodge was a popular Anguillian national, who served as an early Public Health Sanitation Officer in Anguilla – and returned many years later to provide a higher level of service. During that service, he was a consultant with the Pan American Health Organisation/World Health Organisation and the Public Health Department in Anguilla.

The celebration took the form of a programme of individual and group singing, Scripture readings and instrumentals. The eulogy was delivered by the deceased’s daughter, Mrs. Rosemary Hodge-Adams, visiting from California. The moderator was Evangelist Albert Isaac of the Church of Christ at Blowing Point and a close friend of Mr. Hodge.

The former Anguillian health professional was born on May 28, 1941, and passed away on February 28, 2021.

Interment by Jehovah Witnesses led by Brother Crispin Gumbs

The funeral service was held at the Rodney MacArthur Rey Auditorium because the nearby Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses, where Mr. Hodge was a Brother, has been closed since the onset of COVID-19.

On Friday evening, April 2, the day preceding the celebration at the school auditorium, the Jehovah Witnesses held a special Zoom funeral service for him. It was largely conducted by Brother Crispin Gumbs who also delivered the message during the interment at the Sandy Ground Cemetery on Saturday afternoon, April 3.
