The Anguilla Community College (ACC) and its predecessor the Community College Development Unit have had a peripatetic history – starting first in the Cannon Ball building at Wallblake under the leadership of Mrs Dawn Reid, then to the upper floor of the Rogers’ Office Building in George Hill, growing to utilise the entire ground floor of that location. Then there were discussions about relocation to Cinnamon Reef and, finally, in 2011 the Government of Anguilla (GOA) gave the ACC just over 11 acres at Long Path for its campus.
Under the leadership of Dr Delroy Louden, the ACC (with support of the GOA) began negotiations with the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) to secure a loan to develop a purpose built campus at Long Path. Final approval was delayed due to Anguilla/UK negotiations on the Framework for Fiscal Responsibility and other austerity measures. However, the ACC eventually secured approval for the loan from the CDB to start building – the first phase of the new Long Path campus. The project accelerated under Dr Karl Dawson with Mr Cephas Webster winning the contract to build the first phase. Under the leadership of Dr Kenneth Williams, the first phase of the construction project at Long Path has been completed and the sourcing of furnishing and equipment is underway.

The first phase of the Long Path campus comprised the culinary work sites (kitchen, garde manger, pantry, restaurant and bar) as well as the automotive, electrical and carpentry workshops. The ACC’s administrative offices, additional classrooms and other areas (such as the Student Lounge), were conceptualised as Phase 2 of the development. Because Phase 1 does not provide sufficient lecture rooms, the ACC entered a resource sharing agreement with the ALHCS. As part of this arrangement, the College refurbished classrooms include access to internet for evening lectures at its new ACC Satellite site at Campus A.
On March 14, the Contractor, Mr Cephas Webster, handed over the keys to Dr Ronald Harrigan, Chairman of the Board of Governors; and Dr Michelle Queeley, Dean of Studies, of the Anguilla Community College. Preparations for relocations are now in high gear. The ACC will be closed to the public for the last three days of this month (April 28 – 30) to facilitate relocation to the new site. The College expects to begin operations at the ACC Satellite site at Campus A and Long Path Campus from May 4, 2021. Summer short courses will run at both venues.
Anyone having additional questions is invited to contact the ACC on (264) 498-8395/497-2538, WhatsApp (264) 476-8395 or email info@acc.edu.ai.
