The Valley Anguilla – The Ministry of Infrastructure, Communication, Utilities, Housing and Tourism (MICUHT) advises the general public that work has commenced to facilitate the installation of underground utilities at the Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School (ALHCS) new campus. Led by the Water Corporation of Anguilla, this first phase of the project focuses on the trenching, installation and manhole construction which will be carried out by Tracy’s Heavy Equipment and Pete’s Trucking.
An upgrade of the roadway will follow with the installation of a concrete road surface, sidewalks, lighting and an upgraded junction with the main road. A separate procurement will be conducted to select a contractor for the road works.

A total of three hundred and thirty meters (330m) is estimated for the underground trench. This trenching will run primarily along the east side of the road, past the Omololu International School, and will terminate at the ALHCS. It should be noted that the existing overhead electricity infrastructure will remain in place to service other buildings in the area. The hope is to create a measure of redundancy with the utilities at the High School.
Commenting on the commencement of this trenching project, Honourable Minister Haydn Hughes stated that: “This joint underground utility project will increase the resilience of the infrastructure servicing the ALHCS. The Water Corporation of Anguilla, DITES, ANGLEC, FLOW and DIGICEL have committed to completing this phase of the project by the end of March 2021. I apologise to the principal, staff and students of the Omololu International School who may have to subject themselves to an increase in noise and dust over the next few weeks. As I stated earlier this week, these small discomforts will bring about much better conditions for all in the near future”.
