On an annual basis, the Multi-Professional Support Services Division, in the Department of Education, initiates an activity to encourage kindergarten students to attend school regularly and punctually. Education Welfare Officers, Ms. Conisha Gumbs and Ms. Natasha Carty, take the lead in getting the students to understand that, “School Achievement Begins With School Attendance” (AW). The students have been encouraged to achieve this goal with a gift of a lunch bag.

The Education Welfare Officer Unit is appreciative of the $500US contribution from the corporate office of The Anguilla Progressive Association of New York (APANY). Special thanks to Mr. Carlson Connor (President-APANY) for offering the contribution, and Mr. Godwin Carty (Leader of the South Florida Chapter), for facilitating the ordering and shipment of the bags to Anguilla.

Any individual, group or institution who would like to make a contribution to the attendance initiatives, please contact the Education Welfare Officers at the Teachers’ Resource Centre (upstairs the Anguilla Library Services) at telephone number 497 5403.
