The Valley – The Government of Anguilla will commence the collection of Labour Market data, during mid-March to mid-April 2021 as part of Anguilla’s 1st Labour Market Survey, from businesses. This new statistical initiative will improve the capacity to undertake the process of skills needs anticipation and matching.
With financial support from the European Union (EU), the Government of Anguilla, Anguilla Statistics Department (ASD) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education through the Education Planning Unit (EPU) will conduct the first Anguilla Labour Market Survey (ALMS), with technical assistance from Equinoccio/Ramboll.
In December 2020, consultations took place with a number of key stakeholders including but not limited to Anguilla Chamber of Commerce (ACOCI), Anguilla Community College (ACC), the President of the fisherfolk association, Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Department of Education, Anguilla Hotel and Tourism Association (AHTA), Department of Labour and Department of Inland Revenue. These consultations were in an attempt to sensitize as well as engage stakeholders about the purpose of a labour market survey and determine their needs in this area.
The survey will be a Computer Assisted Telephone Interview (CATI). Interviewers will telephone businesses within the sample in an attempt to complete a 15-30 minute questionnaire with the officer responsible for the business’ human resources. This is usually the Human Resources Manager in the larger businesses or the owner/manager in the smaller businesses.
An Anguilla Labour Market Survey (ALMS) Sensitisation Session will be held to share with all stakeholders and business representatives information pertaining to the survey. The session details are as follows:
