The launch of the Covid-19 Vaccination Campaign, under the theme “Vaccinate for you, me and the economy, continued on February 9, with over 200 persons being vaccinated.
The Ministry of Heath has been heartened and encouraged by the enthusiastic response thus far – since Friday. Walk-ins have not been turned away to date despite the fact that we have indicated that an appointment system would be in effect. This was largely driven by our desire to achieve the necessary coverage in a timely manner. However, based on the feedback from the public, the Ministry sincerely regrets that this has inadvertently become a source of contention and an affront to those who have registered on line. This was certainly not the intention. Going forward the current appointment system will be maximised to ensure that as many registered persons as possible are vaccinated on a daily basis. The Ministry of Health is also requesting that persons keep their appointments, once scheduled, so as not to waste time and resources.
Most critically, however, these vaccines will only be administered to individuals normally resident or domiciled in Anguilla. Short-term visitors, and other leisure travellers, do not qualify for vaccination under the protocol. These individuals should access vaccination in their country of residence.
Some registered persons have already been called for their appointments, over the next few days, based on their priority group. If you have already been registered, and have not been called, please rest assured that you will receive notification from the health team when you should show up for your vaccination. Registered persons are also being asked to take note that the health team may ask some individuals to show up for vaccination on short notice depending on the flow of persons. This will be dealt with equitably and fairly.
The Government is thankful for the support and positive response from members of the community. Individuals are asked to register on the website so that the vaccination committee can continue to plan its rollout properly. Persons can register at www.beatcovid19.ai/vaccine.
While we get our vaccine coverage up to the critical mass, the Ministry of Health reminds the public to continue to practice hygienic measures to protect against COVID-19. These include:
• Frequent Handwashing; if water is unavailable utilise an alcohol-based hand rub.
• Covering coughs or sneezes with a disposable tissue or in the crook of a flexed elbow.
• Avoiding contact with persons who are ill with symptoms of acute respiratory infections such as fever or cough.
• Regularly cleaning surfaces and objects that are frequently touched or handled

Person who have been vaccinated and experience any side effects or adverse reactions are encouraged to report this at 235-4357 that is 235-HELP.
