The Valley, 26th January 2021 – The project partners for the Darwin Plus funded project entitled “Improving Coastal Ecosystem Resiliency on Climate Change in Anguilla” are inviting members of the general public to join us on Tuesday, 2nd February, 2021 at 7:00 am as we clean up Cove Pond. The purpose of this cleanup is to raise awareness on the ecological importance of Anguilla’s wetlands, and to observe World Wetlands Day which commemorates the 1971 signing of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands.
Since Hurricane Irma in 2017, Cove Pond has been impacted with debris including galvanize. Removing these items is a key component of the restoration and protection of coastal ecosystems which characterise this project.
Your participation is free of charge and all resources will be provided. To register, please call the Department of Natural Resources Office at 497-0217 or email us at Norma.Gumbs@gov.ai by Monday 01st February 2021.
The Improving Coastal Ecosystem Resiliency Project is a collaboration among the Department of Disaster Management (DDM), Department of Natural Resources(DNR) and Anguilla National Trust (ANT).
