The Anguilla Animal Rescue Foundation is excited to announce that our Fall Spay/Neuter campaign was one of our most successful events since the program began in 2003. The original free month that began December 1st was extended for another month into January 2021 as there were so many requests from Anguilla pet owners.
A total of 95 surgeries were completed in December which included 32 dog spays, 17 dog neuters, 18 cat neuters and 28 cat spays.
In January there were another 95 surgeries included 48 dog spays, 16 dog neuters, 19 cat neuters and 12 cat spays for a grand total of 190 completed free surgeries for this campaign.
Suzie Donahue, AARF’s Spay/Neuter program chairperson since 2003, is pleased to announce that in 2020 AARF sponsored a total of 445 free surgeries for the Anguilla community. AARF believes this program is critical because it reduces the number of unwanted kittens and puppies produced every year in Anguilla. In addition, this surgery helps pets lead a longer, healthier, and happier life.
AARF would like to recognize Dr Garry Swanston, Dr Sade Swanston and Dr Melisa Brookes, the veterinarians at Morlens who completed these surgeries, as well Morlens staff Aarmani Connor, Keneisha Carter and Andrew Singh for their dedication and support in making this program successful.
We also thank all the responsible pet owners whose participation is so important in controlling the unwanted and stray dog and cat population in Anguilla.
At last, but not least, we are indeed grateful for the commitment of so many of our supporters that donate to this special fund which allows AARF to sponsor this free program to the public. The total spent this year for free spay/neuter surgeries was approximately $30,000. If you have any questions please contact Suzie@aarf.ai
