Three more specialised professional development workshops are among the Semester Two course offerings at the University of The West Indies (UWI) Open Campus Anguilla. The workshops are slated to begin in February 2021. They are: ‘Creating a Stronger Business Culture’, ‘Introduction to Human Resource Management’, and ‘The Labour Law and You’.

The workshops are in response to the needs of the community. They are intended to cater to every establishment, employer and employee in Anguilla. The UWI Open Campus Anguilla is embarking on this venture, early in the new year to ensure that all establishments have the opportunity to set the right tone for the New Year and beyond – as the success or failure of a business rests heavily on its most valuable assets, the people.
Creating a Stronger Business Culture workshop will include sessions on how to build loyal relationships with your customers, creating a better environment for your employees and shifting the culture to the best it can be.

Introduction to Human Resource Management will focus on the administrative work of HR personnel – such as the terms and conditions of work, delivery of HR services, and compliance. Other areas of focus will be compensation, training and communication.

The Labour Law and You workshop will be geared towards acquainting persons in the private sector and statutory bodies, with the intricacies as they relate to the employer/employee relationship.
Manager of the British Overseas Territories Open Campus sites, Dr. Phyllis Fleming-Banks, noted: “The time is ripe for us all to embrace the opportunity before us with these workshops. Every establishment and organisation can benefit from these offerings. The culture we create is what will set us apart from the competition. We all want better institutions, organisations and establishments, but wanting it does not make it happen. Here is an opportunity to help us have what we crave – knowledge that will give our businesses a competitive edge.”

The workshops are being scheduled for a date and time to be announced in February 2021. Interested persons are asked to contact the UWI Open Campus Anguilla at 264-497-8156, or email them at Anguilla@open.uwi.edu to reserve their spot for these workshops..
