For over twenty years, International Computer Systems & Solutions (ICSS) has been in the business of providing sales and services in the area of audio and visual technology, with emphasis on meeting the island’s computer needs. Lately, ICSS’s proprietor, Mr. Gilbert ‘GAF’ Fleming, has been inspired to make a noble contribution to education by providing a parent with a computer/laptop in order to ease the burden of e-learning.
As a result, on Wednesday, December 2nd, Mr. Fleming presented a new 2-in-1 Touch-Screen Laptop to the parent of a 7-year old triplet of daughters and a 13 year-old son. The privileged mother was Ms. Udlyn Broooks-Richardson of North Side.
On hand to witness the presentation, was the Honourable Minister of Education, Ms. Dee-Ann Kentish Rogers, who said: “Today, ICSS is involved in the worthy cause of presenting the donation of a laptop to a parent to ensure that her children are equipped for e-learning in this COVID-19 era. By doing this, Mr. Fleming, through ICSS, is initiating a new venture called ‘The Business Tag”, whereby other Anguillian businesses are encouraged to do their part in this social initiative of assisting needy parents.”
According to Mr. Fleming, “In this modern era, we realise that technology is very important to the education process. We are here to offer computer services, but in these days of e-learning we feel that we must play a part to assist our children with their education. So we are doing what we do best. In the area of computers, today we are supplying a family with a laptop, and we encourage other businesses to follow suit and join us in a very worthy cause.”
In applauding the efforts of ICSS, the Honourable Minister observed: “There is no shame in admitting that this year has been extremely difficult for everyone. The onset of the global pandemic has exposed the great need in our communities for extra support at a time when purse strings are drawing tighter. Despite the challenges for ICSS, business has never been about simply returning a profit. As one of Anguilla’s longest standing providers of computer services and equipment, printers and electronic devices, its business involves giving back to the community as well, and today is testament of that fact.”
“ICSS has always been about being a part of the fabric that keeps the Anguillian community functioning. It is about recognising that we will all have good days and bad days, but we prevent the bad days from becoming worse days by being there for each other.
“This is why ‘GAF’ of ICSS has partnered with the Ministry of Education to participate in an island-wide ‘Business Tag’ where we’ll challenge other businesses in Anguilla to give back to the community by donating a laptop to the Department of Education for those who need it the most.
“We challenge all businesses on Anguilla to participate in this #AnguillianBusinessTag to show the Anguillian community that Anguillian businesses give back.
