Anguilla, West Indies (November 30, 2020) – Four Seasons has announced the appointment of Diego Angarita as the Resort’s General Manager, effective December 7.
The post will be a sort of a homecoming for Angarita and his wife, Alicia, who lived on the island from 2016 to 2017, while he served as Resort Manager and as part of the team that led the Resort’s transition to Four Seasons. “Leaving Anguilla right after hurricane Irma was heartbreaking, but I had the opportunity to return and help the Resort reopen in 2018. I greatly admired the tenacity and the hardworking, gracious spirit of Anguillians – in rebuilding their Island,” he says.
The arrival of Angarita was announced at a Town Hall meeting for staff who erupted in cheer upon hearing the news. “As much as we are sorry to see Jose Adames leave, I am delighted that we are getting a member of the Four Seasons family back,” says Resort Employee Rochelle Reed. “He could have gone anywhere but chose to return here. We can’t wait to hear his new ideas and insights that will contribute to our growth.”
Speaking about his return to Anguilla, Angarita mentioned that he and his wife are eager to enjoy barbecue at some of the local spots – and visit many of the great restaurants around the island. “Friday nights at B&D’s, and Sunday afternoons at Sunshine Shack, were favorites of ours. We also can’t wait to walk through Rainbow Farms again, still the best arugula I have ever had anywhere,” he says. He also shared that reconnecting with the parish community at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church will be a highlight. “The connection to that community was a source of comfort and strength at an important time in my life,” he adds.
Victor Richardson Jr., Bamboo Restaurant and Pool and Beach Assistant Manager, recalls Angarita as a great team leader. “Everyone who has met him remembers his sense of humour and team spirit. We are all excited to have him back!” he exclaims.
A native of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Angarita’s career with Four Seasons spans 19 years – and includes stints at properties in a variety of destinations, from the Bahamas to Mexico to Hawaii. Most recently, he served as Hotel Manager at Four Seasons Hotel, Los Angeles, at Beverly Hills. During his tenure, the hotel received the coveted Forbes Five Star award – and reached the number one ranking in Los Angeles on TripAdvisor.
“It is my intention to focus on the guest experience and support my team to continue doing what it does best, which is to demonstrate personalised and genuine care for our guests. The time the Resort stayed closed was hard on everybody – and we have a long road ahead, but I am positive the best is yet to come,” he says.
An accomplished athlete, who has just completed a first marathon, Angarita is looking forward to exploring the island with his dog Ulu, on his free time.
