Tuesday, 10th November 2020 — For the past few days, I’ve been in this disquieting space of not knowing what to do with myself. This morning I awoke sensing that I’m living in a bubble cloud.
This bubble concept is what the Government of Anguilla has utilised for the phase 2 opening of visitors to our island, keeping them isolated in designated zones until assured they’re COVID-free and won’t infect anyone in our community. I commend the GoA ministers, assistants and staff along with the business owners, managers and employees for due diligence in ensuring proper health, safety, security and training protocols are established in order to aid in preventing the spread of this virus.
Even so for those of us who’ve remained here since the initial closing of the air and seaports in March, it feels like we are living in a bubble that won’t ever burst. We’ve been isolated from travelling to visit family and friends who reside overseas, going for healthcare check-ups, taking holidays or attending business meetings, conferences and workshops in other countries. Not even a day trip to Saint Martin is permissible for local residents and that is something we’re accustomed to doing daily, weekly, monthly or spontaneously. Unless we apply for repatriation, receive approval and have the means to pay for COVID-19 testing and quarantine upon our return to Anguilla, we are stuck in this Anguillian bubble.
Now for some people that is fine and dandy, but for someone like myself who is accustomed to annually visiting parents and siblings residing in the Pacific Northwest of the USA as well as spending time with relatives in Saint Martin, this global pandemic has restricted my freedom of movement off island. Right now, I am beginning to feel like I just might go nuts if I don’t soon get a change of environment. But what choice do I have if I want to stay healthy and remain living in a place that has been free of the Novel Coronavirus for nearly the past eight months?
The year 2020 is so different from any of the years that we previously experienced in our lifetimes. Its defining factor is that everybody has been put into a transformative state of existence. We are all being pushed towards changing and shifting our lives. As well, our emotions are running high and we’re sometimes reactive to the situations we find ourselves in. In countless cases, we find our emotions are even exhaustive. Everyone is more stressed than normal because we’re bombarded with all kinds of situations that we have never faced before. Above and beyond that the immovability of people’s emotional states creates stronger emotional reactions to what may be seemingly inconsequential events.
How can we continue to find our own personal clarity whilst in the midst of outer chaos or in the face of outer confusion? That is a question which popped into my head since listening to a conscious raising energy update on YouTube yesterday evening. It is perhaps a contemplative query to have with my inner self on this overcast, rainy day in Anguilla. At least, I can think of other matters to positively occupy my mental questioning instead of numbing out on Netflix or Amazon Prime movies and shows.
I’m seeking personal clarity in the face of an outer world that is in complete and utter chaos and confusion. Also, I am trying to stay in tune with God’s calling for my life and not make any drastic decisions that may adversely impact my present, relatively comfortable living circumstances. My mother is praying that this pandemic will decrease, so she can have her eldest daughter come home for a visit. That is a thought which is constantly in my mind’s attention. When will I be able to travel freely and confirm plans to go see my mum? I just have to hang on waiting until the coast becomes clear.
This commentary may not be one of my most remarkable opinion-editorials, but it is what came from within my conscious awareness. Perhaps, the Most-High guided me to share these thoughts to inspire all of us to go deeper within our inner selves and explore what is happening on a spirit level. May we each find ways to continue walking on our individual soul’s paths and be uplifted no matter what comes.
