During the course of the day on Friday, October 23rd, the local ECCB agency and its partners held a financial information bazaar at the Scouts and Guides gazebo in The Valley. The event was in keeping with the annual observance of October as Financial Information Month (FIM).
Persons in need of financial advice or information on money matters were able to attend the bazaar and speak with ECCB’s Country Manager, Mrs. Sharmaine Lynch-Harrigan, her Administrative Officer, Lenisha Richardson, or any of the finance personnel who manned the several booths on the grounds. ECCB’s many partners were represented at the event.
The Anguillian spoke with ECCB’s Administrative Officer, Lenisha Richardson, who explained: “Today, we are conducting our annual financial literacy campaign which has been running since 2002. This activity takes place every year throughout the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union for the purpose of educating the Union’s citizens on the most prudent use of money. The theme for Financial Information Month this year is: “Financial Empowerment Through Education”, and our focus is on building financial resilience in a COVID-19 environment.”
In expressing support received for the bazaar and all the other events of Financial Information Month, Ms. Richardson noted: “We would like to recognise the cooperation of our many partners who have been so willing to associate with ECCB again this year in this endeavour — and all of our other activities. On behalf of ECCB, I would like to say that we thank you and appreciate you immensely. We would like to also say that we are grateful to our community groups who support us, particularly The Bush Boys, from South Hill.”
“As an annual event, we hope to be doing this next year again,” Ms. Richardson envisioned.
ECCB’s supporting partners included the following entities: The Ministry of Finance and Inland Revenue Department; the Health Authority of Anguilla and the Ministry of Health; The Anguilla Development Board; Serge Co. Accounting & Consulting Services; the Anguilla Social Security Board; DASH Personal & Family Financial Planning; Liberty Co-operative Credit Union; Malliouhana Anico Insurance Company Ltd (MAICO); NAGICO Insurance Company Ltd; D-3 Enterprises Ltd; DIGICEL and the Bush Boys.
