DIGICEL ANGUILLA ROLLS OUT NEW SET OF DIGITAL APPS

Digicel’s engagement with a growing number of customers in Anguilla, and across the rest of the Caribbean islands, with a suite of digital Apps, coupled with an excellent LTE network, has taken another major step forward. That step includes eight new Apps, among them being the company’s new instant messaging App called “Bip”.

The “Bip” App is free for Digicel’s customers and also works on non-Digicel handsets as well. Customers are able to make video calls to ten persons; translate up to 160 different languages on “Bip” – and send private messages lasting up to three, five or ten seconds, with no screen forwarding of the messages. Among other provisions, the “Bip” App enables customers to interact with businesses and functions somewhat like WhatsApp. Digicel is now encouraging social media enthusiasts, other persons and companies in Anguilla to sign on to the “Bip” App and to seek relevant information from its personnel in Anguilla.

The introduction of the “Bip” App was done at a media brunch at Tishti Villa at Meads Bay Beach on Wednesday, October 28. In addition to media representatives, a number of entrepreneurs, partners and friends of Digicel were in attendance. They were all given opportunities to download the new App and to participate in several award-winning activities. One winner received five hundred dollars and, another, a new Samsung 820 F phone.
The gathering was initially addressed by Digicel’s CEO in Anguilla, and Founder and Manager of Advanced Company Group – a company aimed at change management through digital solutions and marketing innovations – Mrs. Kerchelle Jn Charles-Hodge.

She said in part: “Nineteen years ago, Digicel shook up the industry with our special brand of best value, best network and best service. We attracted more service to join the digital family and went to more countries than we ever could imagine possible. We promised big things and we delivered big things. Our customers trusted us to do what was best and to be what was best for them. Some of you fell in love with us and we became a household name across many islands in the Caribbean. But, with the world around us, ever-changing at a fast paste, the old way of doing things is no longer fit for purpose. We began working to find new and simple ways for you to interact and transact with us.

“As a Digicel Operator, we are in the business of delivering to our customers a thousand four hundred and forty minutes of digital engagement by our suite of Apps. That is the number of minutes in a day, and we know our customers are on their phones for the entire day. That is possible by our suite of Apps, coupled with the best LTE network all day, every day.

“This means that we are always on, and always having something to offer you, our valued customers. [This includes] sport, music, news, TV, local radio, podcast, messaging, marketing and Cloud storage. There is something for everyone.”

She added: “This is our new frontier. It is all about trust, transparency and holding ourselves accountable. It is about doing the best and doing the best for you, our customers. We are working together to make sure that a promise made, is a promise kept. This, everybody, is better together.”
