Baroness Liz Sugg

On Wednesday, November 25, a number of Anguillians began following the unexpected resignation of Baroness Liz Sugg from the United Kingdom Government that day.

She was recently-appointed Minister at the Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office for the Overseas Territories, including Anguilla, in succession to Lord Tariq Ahmad. Over the past months she had been working closely with the former and present Governments of Anguilla on a number of issues including funding and the Covid-19 situation.

The Baroness resigned during the Joint Ministerial Council virtual meeting at which there were delegations from Anguilla and other British Overseas Territories. She did not attend that meeting and it was arranged for another British official to take her place.
