The awards were presented by Governor Tim Foy, OBE; Minister of Infrastructure, Mr. Haydn Hughes, who has responsibility for the Fire and Rescue Service; and Parliamentary Secretary, Mrs. Quincia Gumbs-Marie. They were assisted by Acting Chief Fire Officer, Mr. Carlyle Lake.

Following the presentations, Minister Haydn Hughes said in part: “The Anguilla Fire and Rescue Department is a very important and critical component of Anguilla’s national development. It is not only for fires at residences…but is also also in keeping with regulations at the aerodrome at the Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport.

“I like the camaraderie that I see amongst the ‘soldiers’ at the frontline, and I also admire those who have showed up to work every day – and I want to give them a round of applause. I hope that spirit will also translate to the Anguilla Public Service where all of us should turn up to work every day.
“On behalf of myself, the Honourable Premier, the Honourable Parliamentary Secretary, the Government of Anguilla and, indeed, our gracious hosts, His Excellence Governor Foy, and his wife, I wish to thank you for your contribution to Anguilla.”
