“Working with Family and Community” is one of the new Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) courses being offered at The University of the West Indies (UWI) Open Campus Anguilla this semester. The local 30-hour course is part of the Early Childhood Education Care and Development programme currently being offered at the Site.
This timely course provides an overview of how the early childhood practitioner works with families and the community in the education, care and development of the child. The course will explore school, parent and community working relationships. It will also introduce participants to the diverse nature of the family structure and child-rearing practices, as well as the parents’ role as a primary educator. The impact of national policy on young children and their families, as well as community resources and advocacy for children, will be also be highlighted.
The course will run for a period of 10 weeks and will be facilitated by respected Educator and Education Officer, Mrs. Tracelyn Hamilton. Mrs. Hamilton has years of training in Education, including Early Childhood training, and brings invaluable experience to this course.
Interested persons, including Pre-School and Kindergarten Teachers, Baby Sitters, Day Care Providers, Teaching Assistants, Parents/Guardians or other persons interested in working with young children are invited to register for the course.
