For a small population of just over thirteen thousand, Anguilla has seen a series of recent deaths of a number of its people, three of which have been sudden – causing much sadness across the island.
At the risk of inadvertently omitting some of the names, those who have passed away, and on the immediate record, include:
• Mr. Albear Phillip. Retired Seafarer, Deep Waters (died July 9, 2020;
• Mrs. Elizabeth Rogers, MBE, Sea Feathers (born November 19, 1930; died August 20, 2020);
• Mrs. Delores Simpson-Grandfield (UK) died August 26, 2020;
• Mrs, Enid Pearl Richardson, Retired Teacher, George Hill (born February 22, 1931; died August 31, 2020;
• Methodist Circuit Superintendent Minister, Rev. Dr. Wycherley Gumbs (1945-2020) (died September 4);
• Mrs. Rhoda Terase Harrigan, Sea Rocks, Island Harbour (born July 6, 1946; died September 6, 2020);
• Mrs. Verna Fahie, Retired Teacher Little Harbour (died September 18, 2020);
• Mr. Desmond (Shine) Richardson, Gas Station Proprietor, West End (died September 22, 2020);
Their sad passing from this life, and in a close-knit community, has left Anguilla the poorer in terms of human resources and national contribution.
The Anguillian newspaper joins in conveying heartfelt condolences to these, and other sorrowing families, on the departure of their loved ones.
