When Hurricane Irma struck Anguilla, in September 2017, the Mount Fortune Seventh-day Adventist Church was one of the hurricane shelters on the island.
The only problem was that it did not have a functioning standby generator when the Anguilla Electricity Company was unable to continue to provide the power supply to the island.
Pastor Simon recalled on Saturday, September 12, that representatives of the Department of Disaster Preparedness had visited the Church in June this year to find out if a generator was now available for use there during the current hurricane season. However, the installation of such a facility was not completed.
The Pastor is now delighted that, three months later, the generator is installed and ready to go. He invited a number of members of the congregation to the front of the Church and thanked them for their special contributions which made the generation possible, and for their continued pledges to support other related work including the air-conditioning of the Church building.
