The Government of the Anguilla Progressive Movement has met with the Anguilla Air and Sea Ports Authority to hear and carry forward a number of issues dating back to 2018.

A report on the Facebook page of the Minister of Infrastructure and Tourism, Mr. Haydn Hughes, stated that the cost of rectifying those issues amounted to 65 million EC dollars. In addition, there was an urgent need to extend the existing airport runway to 6,000 feet. The present length is 5,442 feet.
It was noted that the Air and Sea Ports Authority had been functioning without a fully-constituted Board of Directors due to the retirement of a number of members. The Minister of Infrastructure undertook to table a memorandum at a meeting of the Executive Council this week – Thursday, August 13.

According to Mr. Hughes, “the new Board will be given a mandte to work closely with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Tourism and the Management of the Air and Sea Ports Authority.” The aim will be “to develop solutions to the various related to the ports.”
