The last few months have been the most eventful of my professional career. It’s a journey that started from a place of deep fear, today metamorphosed into some key triumphs.
The truth is, I’ve struggled as of late to define myself in a very specific way. Am I A Marketer? A Connector? An Entrepreneur? A Businesswoman? That’s all so cliche. What Am I? I’m not sure that I’ve settled on one thing yet. And I’m not sure that I want to.
Our work with our clients here in Anguilla and abroad, particularly during this difficult period that is COVID-19, has reminded me that I am most driven by my passion to use my work to create opportunities for other people to experience their dreams; particularly people that come from developing regions, like myself — from here in Anguilla.
The local, regional and international accolades and partnerships surrounding the Platform BEATCOVID19.AI, pale in comparison to the opportunity this work has given us to serve our island and our people in a very personal way.
It’s been a humbling experience to witness first hand the dedication of the teams here in Anguilla that have worked around the clock, for the past 3 months, to keep us safe amidst the global threat that is COVID-19.
In the midst of what is a very uncertain future for the world, as a whole, what excites our team the most is the conversation our work, Anguilla’s work, has started in circles from Barbados to New Zealand, Dallas to London.
Once again, our little rock is the shining star, this time, in a new space; Islands taking the Lead in developing digital solutions.
I am personally pleased and proud to share our latest recognition in myself being named an Ambassador for Anguilla to the (Organization of Eastern Caribbean States) OECS Sustainable Development Movement.
This announcement by the OECS comes on the heels of another important Ambassadorship, with myself again being named Anguilla’s Island Innovation Ambassador for the Virtual Island Summit 2020 by Forbes Under 30, entrepreneur James Ellsmoor.
These two opportunities represent important platforms to move the conversation around Anguilla, Digital Capital of the Caribbean forward. Our hypothesis is simple. If we create more environments and platforms for people to believe in and realize their full potential, we’ll start to see radical improvements in the way our economies work, the way our societies evolve, the way we treat each other.
The United Nations has set out 17 Sustainable Development Goals that serve as a framework for creating a better world for everybody. Together with my Partner Gino Webster, and our team at Thoughtful, we are committed to helping islands around the world accomplish these goals through TECHNOLOGY.
We are dedicated to creating an environment here in Anguilla that emboldens our island to assume a position of leadership in regional technology development.
It’s a vision so big, we’ve been afraid to share it.
