Fellow Anguillians
Finally, we got a firm date for when change will come to Anguilla.
The power of both time and democracy was on display on Tuesday, June 2nd.
Although an unpopular government fought to hold on, using every law in the Constitution while rejecting the spirit of the Constitution, it was forced to announce the date for the election.
On June 29th, you the people of Anguilla will get to decide your future. You the people of Anguilla will get the chance to grade a government that never showed up from day one.
Their day one came and went a long time ago.
Now 5 years later, there is an urgency to make up for lost time.
That’s why all along we have said that CHANGE CAN’T WAIT.
Change does not have to wait much longer – for in less than one month – you will have the opportunity to replace this inept government, with a team with more vision and more energy; a team with a progressive comprehensive plan for the empowerment of people; a team that understands the plight of the hotel workers; the health care workers; the public servants; the fishermen; the construction workers; the youth and the elderly.
We have seen how insensitive this government has been through the current coronavirus pandemic. In fact, we have seen their recurring inaction and lack of vision these past five years.
Their approach to governance has hurt ordinary people like you. They have made you worse off.
Their period in government has disenfranchised our young people, and made our elderly more vulnerable.
This government has been running from its record. In the last few days, as their desperation set in – they have imposed regulations to try to give them an unfair advantage.
Through out this campaign , I have always remained hopeful that the best days of Anguilla are still ahead . Now , I am even more hopeful.
There is light at the end of the tunnel. Soon we will turn the corner, and we shall see a rising sun.
Together we shall sail to a new horizon, and we shall begin to see the full potential of this land.
I call on all Anguillians to organize and mobilize; to remain engaged and get ready to vote – for it’s only through a large turnout that we can guarantee the change for which you yearn; the change that you deserve.
Ain’t no stopping the people of Anguilla now. Change Can’t Wait.
May God bless Anguilla.
