POLITICAL DEBATES IN ANGUILLA AS ELECTIONS DRAW CLOSER

With general elections in Anguilla announced for this month, a series of political debates began on Monday, June 8, at the Teachers’ Resource Centre. The debates involve all the district candidates of the Anguilla United Front and the Anguilla Progressive Movement

This first debate in the series involved the three candidates in District 1, Island Harbour: Dr. Lorenzo Webster, Leader of the Anguilla Progressive Party; Mr. Oris Smith of the Anguilla United Front; and Ms. Palmavon Webster, the independent candidate who served as Leader of the Opposition in the House of Assembly.

The questions for the debate sought the views of the candidates on a variety of issues facing youth and sustainable development in Anguilla.

The political debates over a two-week period, were organised by the Anguilla National Youth Council whose President is Mr. Neil Gumbs.
