The Department of Youth and Culture – Youth Affairs Division – conducted a Familiarisation/Orientation session with the Mentors and Mentees of the Anguilla Service Corps (ASC) Programme, on Thursday 14th May, 2020. The session was facilitated by the Senior Programme Officer – Youth, Ms. Joleyne Robin. The session precedes the beginning of the mentor-mentee relationship which began immediately thereafter.
Three (3) mentees/clients are now officially paired with mentors through the volunteerism and mentorship programme which is spearheaded by the Department of Youth and Culture as a component of the Anguilla Service Corps Programme. Mentors are recruited through an online application process.
Once the application is submitted a criminal background check is made and thereafter training is conducted by the Department of Youth and Culture. The Mentors are then deployed based on their area of interest and paired with young people to provide mentorship or guidance for no less than one (1) year. Mentors provide the clients with assistance in obtaining various opportunities to enhance their personal and professional skills and to build long trusting relationships with their families, peers and members of their community.
