THE VALLEY, Anguilla, March 5, 2020. The Anguilla Literary Foundation is pleased to announce the 9th annual Anguilla Lit Fest: A Literary Jollification. We are excited to present this year’s event to our growing cadre of loyal literary aficionados in Anguilla as well as our regional and international markets, as the Anguilla Lit Fest continues to enjoy a reputation as one of the leading literary festivals in the Caribbean.
Lit Fest 2020 will be presented from May 14 – 17, as a showcase of Literary Excellence, as we host a series of Pre-Lit Fest writer’s workshops for children, at risk youth, adults and teachers, to be facilitated by one of the growing number of Lit Fest alumni. We will also host our special Champions’ Pursuit of Literacy event for the primary school children where they have the opportunity to hear from and interact with the authors, poets and spoken word artistes, who motivate and inspire them to continue to read and to write their stories. All of this will be in addition to our Main Stage Signature Panels, Masterclass Presentations and Maverick Lunch-time Presentations.
We are pleased to confirm that we have secured the participation of leading literary luminary and social activist, Susan Rice – former National Security Adviser to President Barack Obama and US Ambassador to the United Nations – as the headliner for the year’s event. Her appearance is in addition to a wide cadre of prize-winning authors, poets Spoken Word performers and Publishing Professionals, and our own Pride of Anguilla published writers and poets. This additional information will be disseminated shortly.
The Anguilla Literary Foundation remains committed to the pursuit of the presentation and conservation of our heritage and traditions through the literary arts, even as we continue to provide a platform for our local authors and poets to further develop and showcase their literary skills. The Anguilla Lit Fest is also a Public Relations tool for raising awareness of the island and its products within the island’s key tourism geographic markets – geared towards stimulating travel to the island.
