In celebration of Women’s Week 2020, and in support of women empowerment, the Social Security Board was pleased to partner with the Hats and Heels organization, as a Gold Sponsor of its 2020 women empowerment event. The event was held on Sunday, 1st March, at the Ballroom of Resorts & Residences at Cuisinart at 11:30 am. The Board’s contribution, of US$500.00, to this event aligns with its strategic focus and mission – “to contribute to the transformation of the quality of life in Anguilla through meaningful social security, community empowerment and national impact initiatives”.
Hats and Heels – the event – coincided with the commencement of Women’s Week 2020. It was an inspirational luncheon with local and St. Maarten guest speakers who explored the organization’s mission of “women empowering women”. The speakers focused on women empowerment, domestic violence and the International Women’s Day and Women’s Week 2020 theme – “I Am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights”. This annual luncheon event is one of the organization’s initiatives to raise funds for the operations of S.A.F.E. (Stop Abuse For Everyone), a domestic hotline which is currently live and is expected to be operational by July of this year.
Hats and Heels is a non-profit organization with a profound passion for sisterhood among women. Its mission is “women empowering women” through trust, passion, investment and commitment. With the passage of the Domestic Violence Bill, the organization felt it was imperative to establish a women’s hotline (an outlet for persons affected by domestic violence) in order to create an environment where women in our community can lead safe lifestyles.
The Social Security Board commends the bold initiative of the Hats and Heels organization for the establishment of a women’s hotline (S.A.F.E), and extends congratulations for another successful event.
