As mentioned in the front page article, in this edition of The Anguillian newspaper, a proposed site has been decided on for the construction of quarantine units west of the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
While the site is still being evaluated as a safety zone, the Anguilla Government is expecting to receive financial assistance from the UK Government under a proposed package for a number of British Overseas Territories.
According to Anguilla’s Minister of Health and Community Development, Mr. Evans Rogers, the quarantine units will be built in view of invasive diseases, like the coronavirus, now threatening the island.
Meanwhile, immediate arrangements are in hand for quarantining persons suspected of the COVID-19 virus and isolating those persons if found with the disease. Surveillance arrangements are currently in progress at the island’s ports of entry to stem the possible importation, and community spread, of the virus.
