Mr. Hubert Hughes

Politicians in Anguilla, campaigning for the 2020 elections, have prefaced their addresses by expressing best wishes to former Chief Minister, Mr. Hubert Hughes, for a speedy recovery in a Colombian hospital.

While chairing the public meeting in District 4, George Hill on Saturday, March 14, Minister of Home Affairs and Education, Mrs. Cora Richardson Hodge, said:
“At this time, I would like us to think about the Honourable Mr. Hubert Hughes, Anguilla’s former Chief Minister, and hold him up in our prayers.”
At the same meeting, Minister of Education and Social Development, Mr. Evans Rogers, stated: “I would like for all of us who are listening, and watching, to keep the Honourable former Chief Minister, Mr. Hubert Hughes, who has been the longest serving elected parliamentarian in Anguilla today, in our prayers. I was made to understand that he is in the hospital in Colombia and we will continue to pray for his full and speedy recovery.

“At the end of the day, we politicians who are given the opportunity to represent our people of Anguilla, irrespective of what side we are on, when there are health challenges and sicknesses, we all feel the pain. Despite our differences politically, I can say personally that the Honourable Hubert Hughes and myself have not had any personal differences. He is a good friend of mine. I will keep him in my prayers – and I am asking you to do the same.”

“I would like us to remember in our prayers our former Chief Minister, the Honourable Hubert Benjamin Hughes, who is right now undergoing medical treatment. My God grant him a successful outcome and speedy recovery, and bring him back to us safely.”
