1st Place Winner of Domino Contest – Josheem Morton with officers

On the morning of Wednesday, March 11th, the prizes of the Police Week Car Raffle and the Domino Contest were issued on the grounds of The Valley Police Station. Police Week featured police-sponsored activities which ran from January 25th to February 1st, 2020.
Since December, there had been promotions for the police car raffle. The raffle and the announcement of the winners, should have been made at the end of Police Week, but due to certain logistics the raffle event took place at a car show on the grounds of the Agriculture Department on the night of Sunday, March 1st.
Third place winner of the car raffle was Ms. Karen Piña who won US$800; second place winner was Jacqueline Paul who won US1,200; and the winner of the brand new 2020 Ford Ranger carriage pickup was Mr. Dwight “Boogie” Brooks of The Valley.
Delighted over his magnificent win, Dwight explained how he purchased the winning ticket number 3184: “The evening of the police dinner, I came home from work and my sister told me that night was the last chance to buy tickets for the police raffle. I said, ‘Wow…I aint even got my ticket yet.’ So I just jumped in my car and drove up the road full speed.
“When I got there at the market place, I met with the police officer who sold the tickets. He came to me with the book of tickets and told me to choose a number, but I told him, ‘No sir! You pick the ticket for me.’ He did and he told me to write my name. I said, ‘No! You write my name please, sir.’ I told him my name and he wrote it on the ticket.
“Then, one night they called me, while I was in my bed, taking a doze, to tell me that my number had won. I shouted a big ‘Wow!’ I was just sleepy and lost for words. I did not know what to say. So, now indeed I am happy and very grateful to the officer who did me the favour in picking ticket number 3184.”
Winning prizes for the Police Domino Competition were Mr. Josheem Morton of the K9 Domino Club, who won a first prize of US$600; Tony Morton of the Stars Team won the 2nd prize of US $400; and the 3rd place prize of US200 was won by the Royal Anguilla Police Force.
The prizes were issued by Deputy Commissioner, Elliot Forbs. Deputy Chairman of the Police Week Committee, Inspector Randolph Yearwood, joined with Commissioner to say thank you for the great support they received from the general public for Police Week.
