COVID-19 Update – SECOND SAMPLE NEGATIVE, Third Sample Sent to CARPHA for COVID-19 Testing

On March 18th, the Ministry of Health received the results for the sample sent on Monday, March 16th, for COVID-19 testing to the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA). This result is negative.
The Ministry of Health was also notified today of a person who met the definition of a suspected case of COVID-19. A sample has been sent to CARPHA for testing and the patient is isolated at an appropriate facility as per the established protocol.
To date Anguilla has no confirmed cases of COVID-19.
The Ministry of Health reminds the public to practice hygienic measures to protect against COVID-19.
These include:
? Frequent Handwashing; if water is unavailable utilize an alcohol-based hand rub.
? Covering coughs or sneezes with a disposable tissue or in the crook of a flexed elbow.
? Avoiding contact with persons who are ill with symptoms of acute respiratory infections such as fever or cough.
? Regular clean surfaces and objects that are frequently touched or handled.
The Ministry of Health has established a hotline for the general public wishing for information on COVID19 and for persons who feel they have been exposed to COVID-19. The number is 1-264-476-7627 or 476 SOAP.
