The University of the West Indies (UWI) Open Campus Anguilla last week, launched its Certificate in Internal Auditing programme with some twenty-three (23) participants from the public and private sectors. Internal Audit Standards and Concepts is the first in the four-course programme and is being facilitated by Internal Auditor, Mrs. Elvarie Vanterpool. The other three courses – Governance, Risk, Compliance and Controls I and II and The Practice of Internal Auditing: Tools and Techniques – will be delivered by other local experts.
The locally-taught, face-to-face, programme, is part of the Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) programme at the Open Campus Anguilla. It is specifically designed for those who have been introduced to internal auditing through work, formal or informal studies, and would like to pursue internal auditing as a career; junior or aspiring auditors who wish to acquire a deeper understanding of the internal audit function in the exercise of their mandates; or career Internal Auditors who are desirous of becoming further recognised through certification and/or for the pursuit of continued professional development.
Other local CPE courses on offer at the UWI Open Campus this semester, include Introductory and Advanced Supervisory Management Employment Law/Law for HR Practitioners, Introduction to Counselling, Conversational Spanish, Foundation Maths, Digital Marketing/Brand Management, Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management Health, Safety and Nutrition for Young Children, Occupational Health & Safety and Compliance Management.
