Anguilla’s Olaide Banks is being honored at the Mid-South Black Film Festival in Memphis, Tennessee, for the short film based on his original song, “Story of My Life.”
Banks emerged from his “behind the scenes” music business role in 2018 to pursue his own brand of Gospel and Christian Inspirational music. He has been active across the U.S. and Caribbean since 2018.
The film, “The Story: Calloused Hands”, depicts a journey of faith and determination across three generations and features Banks’ young son, Omari Acie Banks, as its lead actor. Calloused Hands was directed by Jacob Roberson and produced by Olaide Banks.
The Mid-South Black Film Festival is an annual festival dedicated to celebrating black excellence in film. The Story: Calloused Hands was selected for screening in the “short film category” and is under consideration for best short film. The Festival runs from February 25 to March 1, 2020 in Memphis, Tennessee, U.S.A.
Banks, who has collaborated with several Christian artists in the U.S. and the Caribbean, is currently working on several pieces of new music that will feature various artists including Bankie Banx and Omari Banks.
