Numerous consumers and trade partners have been captivated by the presence of Anguilla Tourist Board (ATB) at the Travel and Adventure 2020 Show series which started in January 2020. The shows are now positioned as the largest travel trade and consumer events in the USA, which showcases hundreds of destinations from around the world. Potential visitors can meet one-on-one with travel experts who can help to personalize and book a trip at a rate that is only available at the shows. Additionally, they learn how to travel like an insider from dozens of interactive seminars and meet travel celebrities such as Rick Steves and Samantha Brown.
The ATB has undertaken this new approach in engaging directly with targeted consumers who have expressed interest in travelling to the Caribbean, and by extension, Anguilla. The following shows were selected based on historical marketing statistics, the destination interest garnered from social media outreach and air schedules and feeder markets, all combined to provide Anguilla with the best return on investment: Boston, MA – January 10th – 12th, Chicago, IL – February 6th – 8th, Los Angeles, CA – February 14th – 16th.
Visitors to the booths were offered winter specials provided by hotel partners, educated on the Five-Pillar experiences and informed on the ease of access to the destination through various routes. The ATB also sought to build trade partnerships by including selected pre-approved travel agents to collaborate at the booth in order to assist consumers with inquiries on Anguilla and close the sales leads. Travel agents have already reported bookings from both the Boston and Chicago Shows.
The Los Angeles California show was held from February 14th – 17th, 2020 with an estimated 30,000 in attendance. Team Anguilla was represented by the Director of Sales USA, Lorine Charles St. Jules along with Tourism Assistant, Marketing Sharon Richardson-Lowe.
