The Certificate in Internal Auditing is among the 2020 programmes being rolled out in the local Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) programme, at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Open Campus Anguilla. The locally-taught, face-to-face, programme includes four courses: Internal Audit Standards and Concepts, Governance, Risk, Compliance and Controls I and II and The Practice of Internal Auditing: Tools and Techniques.
The programme is specifically designed for those who have been introduced to internal auditing through work, formal or informal studies and would like to pursue internal auditing as a career; junior or aspiring auditors who wish to acquire a deeper understanding of the internal audit function in the exercise of their mandates; or career Internal Auditors who are desirous of becoming further recognised through certification and/or for the pursuit of continued professional development.
The programme will be facilitated by a number of local professionals and will be launched on January 29, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. at the UWI Open Campus Anguilla. The first course, Internal Audit Standards and Concepts, will be facilitated by Internal Auditor, Mrs. Elvarie Vanterpool.
Manager for the UWI Open Campus British Overseas Territories, Dr. Phyllis Fleming-Banks, says, “The internal audit function is becoming increasingly critical for effective business operations and this programme was developed in response to stakeholder needs. Mrs. Vanterpool has more than 25 years experience in accounting/auditing and banking, and we are delighted to have her as part of the delivery team.”
