Health Educator, Nurse Dana Ruan, is the facilitator for the Semester Two “Health, Safety and Nutrition for Young Children” course at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Open Campus Anguilla. The 30-hour face-to-face course is part of the Early Childhood Education Care and Development programme currently being offered at the Site.
The timely course provides the foundation information for promoting health, safety and nutrition for young children. It explores the provision of healthy practices, the value of a balanced nutrition to enhance children’s growth, development and learning; and the need for a safe environment for children to learn. Topics include Nutrition and Food Safety, Preventing Illnesses in Young Children, Social and Emotional Health, Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect and Health Care for Children with Special Needs.
Interested persons, including Pre-School Teachers, Baby Sitters, Day Care Providers, parents/guardians or other persons, interested in working with young children, are invited to register for the course.
