Under the theme “A DECADE OF DEDICATION, RESOURCEFUL AT OUR CORE, A UTITLITY COMMITTED TO ACHIEVING SELF-SUSTAINABILITY”, The Water Corporation of Anguilla (WCA) celebrates its 10th Anniversary. WCA’s week of activities commemorating the 10th Anniversay began on Sunday December 15th with a Church Service at Church of God, Holiness Queen Elizabeth Avenue.

Other highlights of the week’s activities would have been a radio address/interview by the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Aly Anthony, Customer Awareness Day at the Ground of the General Post Office on the 18th and climaxing with the Awards Ceremony on the 20th where a number of staff members will be recognized based on tenure and stellar service to the organization.

The WCA Act was established in November 2008 and its operations begun in January 2009 granting WCA the exclusive right to supply piped water which is distributed throughout the island from two (2) sources of production including Brackish Water Reverse Osmosis (BWRO) and Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO)

Potable water produced from the BWRO is sourced from the island’s well field and is produced by TSG Water Works Anguilla which is located at Crocus Hill and has the capacity to produce over 500,000 US gallons daily; The other being the Sea Water Reverse Osmosis system located at Crocus Bay which is operated by Seven Seas Water, having the capacity to produce one million US gallons daily.

For almost half of a century, Anguilla has made several attempts in bringing about a reliable supply of affordable water to its residents. As recent as 2015, the rationing of water was prevalent throughout the island with some districts getting water once or twice per week. Compounding the latter, disconnection of the water service was requested by customers due to the sporadic manner in which water was provided. Further, previously if a main water line was broken on a Friday afternoon it was unusual to have it repaired on the upcoming Monday.

Today we celebrate on this tenth anniversary that the rationing of water has become a menace of the past and water is being provided to all areas twenty hour hours daily for seven days of the week; we celebrate on this tenth anniversary an increase in clientele base of 45% over the last five of the ten years; we celebrate today that we have now increased potable water to our customers by 360% over the production five years ago; we celebrate today that new connections can happen in a timely manner as the WCA has invested in its own excavator, this also reduced the cost of trenching; we celebrate on this tenth anniversary that the repairs of broken lines shall be done within a twenty-four hour period regardless of the day of the week. We celebrate the many initiatives that are about to be made known to our valued customers in an effort to ensure the WCA remain relevant to its vision, mission and its stakeholders.

The Board, Management and Staff of the WCA wishes to thank your, our valued and loyal customers, for your patronage in 2019 and looks forward to your continued service throughout the coming years. Wishing all A Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the Board of Directors, Management & Staff.
